Online Labor Exchanges and Advanced Job Matching An Evaluation of Vendors and Opportunities

This report presents an evaluation of web-based labor exchange platforms with advanced matching technology to connect candidates with opportunities, with the intent of selecting a finalist platform to be piloted in Minnesota with RealTime Talent partners. This report summarizes the traits and functionality of 11 platforms for posting jobs online, focusing on their matching capabilities, innovative approaches, and respective costs.

Youth Participation in Small-Scale Fisheries, Aquaculture and Value Chains in Africa and the Asia-Pacific

The objectives of this study were to (i) assess the participation of youth in fisheries and aquaculture, including opportunities and challenges for participation, (ii) understand what WorldFish and key partners (government organizations, nongovernmental organizations [NGOs] and others) are doing in the focal countries in relation to youth participation, and (iii) provide potential areas for further research that could support improved youth participation in aquaculture, small-scale fisheries, and value chains.

Breaking barriers to youth engagement in aquatic food systems

This strategic brief shows aquatic food systems have the potential to provide livelihood opportunities for youth but challenges remain for them to join the sector. Multisector initiatives to improve access to training and finance as well as promote digital innovation can improve the participation of youth in fisheries, aquaculture and associated value chains. 

Landscape Review of South Africa’s Care Economy

South Africa’s paid care economy contributes 13.8% towards total employment in the labour market and is largely undertaken by women – estimated at 84% in Graph 1 below.

Historically, the care economy has been a neglected sector, however, recent attention has been brought to it by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa. This presents an opportunity to create momentum around expanding solutions for the care economy.

Sizing the Opportunity in South Africa’s Care Economy

This report estimates the size of the South African care economy through an analysis of the number of existing and potential future job opportunities in the sector. It also outlines the potential impact of investment into the care economy including economic impact, impact on beneficiaries, and impact on the young people who could access the job opportunities together with the broader societal impacts.
